Picture with Santa

I forgot to post this earlier! Last week we waited for over an hour to take a picture with Santa. By the time it was time to take our pic, Davis was almost asleep. He woke up quick though when he saw Santa Clause. As you can see, he was definitely a little nervous about sitting on his lap. I don't think his eyes could get any bigger! No smile, but no tears either! What a big boy!

Christmas Joy

Christmas morning fun with Daddy

Celebrating Christmas with Davis this year was amazing. While he isn't old enough to understand Santa, he did have the best time crawling around everywhere trying to eat all of the wrapping paper and ribbons. Even with all of the gifts, he mainly wanted to play with a water bottle and a plastic measuring cup. Cameron is an expert when it comes to trains, and he was so cute showing Davis how to make the train go "choo choo." He was so sweet and patient with Davis, even when he was trying to eat his new toys. We had such a great time hanging out with family, and we feel so blessed having Davis with us this year to make the holiday extra special:)

Big Boy

Look at those big, beautiful eyes!

He had a ball playing with a roll of wrapping paper

Davis looked like such a big boy this morning in his church clothes; I couldn't resist taking some pictures. He is now 10 months old. He is still such an easy going, sweet baby. He can be shy at first, but he normally gets comfortable pretty quickly. He is becoming more and more stable when he is standing up. He will let go with one hand or wait until he is squatting close to the ground and let go with both hands. We decorated the tree this weekend and wrapped some Christmas presents. Davis wasn't interested in the tree at first because it was too prickly, but once we put the ornaments up, he definitely was ready to investigate. He thinks it is a game now to see if he can reach the tree and touch an ornament before we can get to him. So far, no broken ornaments--only 24 days to go :)

We have an appointment with the ENT this Thursday. He is still battling his double ear infection(41 days and counting). I'm hoping this last batch of medicine does the trick.

Thanksgiving Blessings

Big kisses from Emmy and Chloe

Taking a nap

Playing with the big kids

Thanksgiving in Atlanta was absolutely wonderful. We had a great time visiting with Kelly, Rob, Lisa, and Allen. The kids(Bobby, Mitchell, Emmy, and Chloe) had fun playing Rock Band, and it was so much fun to watch Davis interact with all of his cousins. I wish we all lived closer so we could spend more time together. Overall, Thanksgiving was filled with many blessings, and Shawn and I are so thankful that we were able to spend time with our family in Atlanta.

Sweet Baby

Here are some new pics of our sweet boy. Poor baby is still trying to get over his ear infection. We've tried two different antibiotics and this past Monday he had a shot. So, we go back in two weeks to see if they've cleared 100%. He is pulling up more and more and is into everything! His absolute favorite thing to do right now is play peek-a-boo. Shawn and I run all over the house peeking out behind corners, doors, the sofa--really anything at all we can hide behind. He thinks it is hysterical. Despite the ear infection, he is still eating and sleeping great. I've tried to give him some real food a few times(banana, green beans, etc)--just so he can try it, but so far he has thrown up twice. I'm going to keep trying :) He loves his baby food though and will pretty much eat any kind that I give him. Shawn and I are looking forward to going to Atlanta for Thanksgiving and seeing everyone!!

Halloween

We had such a relaxing weekend! Friday night our neighborhood was supposed to do trick-or-treating, but the rain and cold weather put a damper on things. We still dressed Davis in his costume and took some pics. Saturday Davis and I went to the mall with Brittney and found some really cute winter hats. I couldn't resist putting one on right away for some pics. Sunday was a beautiful day and after church we just hung out and took it easy. Davis' personality is really beginning to show. He gets so excited about certain toys that he moves around in a circle on his bottom; it is so, so cute! He loves petting our cat, Jake. In fact, he has started to say "kitty cat." Not very clearly, but you can definitely make out what he is saying. Right now he loves playing with his blocks. He loves to knock them down over and over. Recently he has been trying to get over a double ear infection. We will go back in a few days to see if it has cleared up. Even with the ear infection, he has been so happy. From what everyone else has told me, we are very lucky!

On the Move

Davis James is 8 months old! We can't quite believe it. He is crawling around like crazy. He mainly crawls on his stomach using his arms(or like Shawn says "army crawling"), but he is starting to stay on his hands and knees more and more. If Shawn and I are sitting down with him, he will use our legs to pull up on. I'm definitely not ready for him to be walking. I'm hoping that takes a little longer :) We had a great weekend. Mee Mee, Aunt Candace and Cameron visited on Saturday for the LSU game. We went to Lafayette and visited with Poppa, Parrain, and Aunt Gena on Sunday. It was a rough drive on the way back--bad rain and major traffic on the Whiskey Bay, but Davis slept the entire time. He didn't even wake up when we got home and I changed his diaper and clothes. Here are a few pics from the weekend. Davis liked playing the drums at Poppa's house. Well, he mainly wanted to eat the drum sticks, but he still had fun!

Relaxing Labor Day

After having a great time in New Roads at Cameron's birthday party yesterday, we stayed home and relaxed today. Cameron is obsessed with Star Wars right now, so he received lots of Star Wars presents, including a Star Wars cake. Candace got the cake from the Cake Goddess off of Jefferson here in Baton Rouge. It was really cute and tasted even better! They have some really awesome cake pics on their website (http://www.cakegoddessllc.com/).

I'm not looking forward to going back to school tomorrow, but at least it is a short week :) Here are a few pics from the party and from this weekend. We stopped to see Mike the Tiger on the way home from New Roads. Davis' expression is pretty funny. I think he was freaked out at seeing Mike so close. He kept walking right in front of us.

Eat Em' Up Tigers! Eat Em' Up!

College football has officially started! We are excited to watch LSU play this year. Davis had on his LSU gear like most of Baton Rouge today to get ready for the big game tonight against Washington. He will have to wait to watch his first game since he'll already be sleeping when kick off happens tonight. I think he looks pretty cute in his purple and gold!

We are looking forward to going to New Roads tomorrow for Cameron's 6th birthday party! Davis gets to show off his new teeth. He has two coming in on the bottom. It hasn't slowed him down at all. He hasn't been fussy, but he does want to chew everything in sight. He is still eating and sleeping great. He is such a happy baby!

Busy Days

The last two weeks have been pretty tiring. School is back in full swing, and I'm trying to adjust to the busy schedule. Davis seems to have adjusted with no problems. Thankfully, he has always been a good sleeper and has been sleeping through the night for a while now. He is sitting up on his own and has started to try and scoot across the floor. He gets on his back and lifts his butt up and down to try and move. When he is on his stomach, he just kind of pushes forward. No crawling yet! He has also become such a wiggle worm. He will flip over in your lap and try to turn every which way in order to reach a toy or watch the animals.

I've posted some pics from when we were in New Orleans for Matt & Jennifer's surprise baby shower. We had a great time visiting with family & can't wait for John Parker to arrive!

End of Summer

Sadly summer has come to an end & school is starting back up. I'm determined to leave school everyday by 3:30, so I can pick Davis up and have time to be with him. No more staying until 5:00! Shawn is enjoying his new job with the state. Besides getting settled in the new job, he has also been spending time editing old home videos from when he was a child. The videos are so much fun to watch! I'll be starting a class at LSU in just a few weeks. I completed my certification for Library Science and will continue to take classes to finish the master's program. Davis is doing great! He is such a happy baby! He is very interested in everything going on around him and will strain his neck to see something if it gets his attention. Shawn and I are amazed at how quickly he is growing and changing!

6 months

I can't believe Davis is already 6 months old! He is such a sweetie! He is always making funny noises and laughing at us. He loves his jumperoo, his big stuffed monkey, and any toy that makes noise. He is starting to try and sit up and will practically pop out of his car seat the minute you unbuckle him. We took his 6 month pictures today and will post the link as soon as the proofs are available!

Happy Birthday Maw Maw!

We celebrated Maw Maw's 85th birthday this weekend in Innis. We had such a wonderful day! Davis got to meet a lot of his extended family. It was great to be able to introduce him for the first time to Uncle Donnie, Aunt Grace, Carl, Norma, Vincent, Grace Marie, Uncle Angelo, Mickie and Anna. Maw Maw broke out her dancing shoes and surprised us all by standing up and dancing a bit with Dad. She seemed to really have a fantastic day visiting with her family, and of course she especially enjoyed seeing her great grandkids. We love you Maw Maw!

Summer Vacation

Shawn, Davis and I went to Destin for a few days and had a great time! Davis loved being outside by the water and especially liked floating around in the pool. Lately, he has been rolling around like crazy and putting everything in his mouth. He is starting to reach out for me when he wants me to pick him up! He is too cute!

Starting Something New

Hi everyone! I've decided to start blogging so it will be easy for family and friends to see current pics and videos of Davis. He is getting so big! I'll post a few albums of some old pictures so you can see how much he has grown. Shawn and I are so blessed to have Davis in our lives!
