My sweetheart is six years old today. I can't quite believe it. At six years old, Davis love super heroes. He can spend hours with his action figures creating some crazy story lines. I love listening to him play. He really gets into character voices and if you know anything about Davis--he can be pretty dramatic! He loves ninja turtles and of course all of the villains that fight against them. He is really getting into chapter books because they have been reading them at school. Right now, he especially loves Frog and Toad books. When we read books together, he is starting to sound out and read words when I point to them. I had a parent teacher conference with Mrs. Loar recently and she said Davis pays such close attention during circle time and reading. She says he really asks great questions and really thinks about what is going on in the book. As a past English teacher/librarian, I was definitely proud to hear this! :) Now, we just need to work on that handwriting! ;) He can write his name and does pretty well with the rest of the alphabet, but it is definitely not something he wants to do often. She said he is all boy--always rolling around with the other boys and always going full blast.
At six years old, he loves music and sings in the car to the radio. He dances in his seat and often asks me to turn it up. His "best" friend at school is Jared and I can often find them on the playground chasing the girls or creating games with the other boys in their class. Right now, pretending to be zombies and chase each other is pretty popular. He is full of questions lately....."Why did God create me?", "Why does the sun follow me in the car?", and some others that sometimes leave me thinking quickly on my feet. What I want to remember most about this age is that he can be so incredibly silly--he can laugh full out and not be able to stop when he finds something really funny--usually his daddy is the best at getting a full on belly laugh. He is still so affectionate with me and I'm so incredibly happy about that. He loves to hug me tight and definitely still wants to cuddle with me. My favorite time with him is bedtime. We talk about his day and say our prayers. I still sing him "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"every night like I've always done since he was born. I love this sweet, stubborn beautiful boy so much! Happy birthday Davis James!!
*I will post pictures later this week from a mardi gras parade we went to in Slidell and from Davis's birthday*
